Chinese Mainland – Hong Kong border reopening

We welcome the Hong Kong SAR Government’s latest announcement to facilitate quarantine-free travel between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland, as well as the lifting of transit restrictions, effective 8 January 2023.

 

Additional flights to Chinese Mainland cities

In light of the latest measures, we are delighted to more than double the number of flights between Hong Kong and Mainland cities. The additional flights are set out below:

Greater Bay Area connectivity resumption

With the reopened Chinese Mainland borders, your travellers can now enjoy seamless air-to-sea transfers between Hong Kong International Airport and Shenzhen Shekou from 8 January 2023. The schedule is set out below:

There will also be resumed double daily ferry transfers between Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal and Shenzhen Shekou Cruise Home Port, as well as 24-hour land transportation services on Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge from 8 January 2023. Stay updated with travel requirements

 

Travelling to the Chinese Mainland (from all places)

Prior to departure

  • Conduct PCR-based nucleic acid test within 48hours of departure from the first departure point in the journey (Required for all travellers, regardless of age)
  • Complete the China Customs Online Health Declaration Form and obtain a blue QR code (*Note: this QR code is only valid for 24 hours – so travellers should take this into account when completing the form. The QR code must be valid on arrival in the Chinese Mainland.) 

 

  Travelling from the Chinese Mainland to Hong Kong Travelling from overseas places to Hong Kong

Prior to departure

Conduct PCR-based nucleic acid test within 48hours prior to departure

Conduct rapid antigen test (RAT) within 24 hours or PCR-based nucleic acid test within 48 hours prior to departure

After arrival

  • No more nucleic acid test required
  • Recommend daily RATs until day 5 after arrival
  • No more Vaccine Pass QR Code required for entering premises

Certain destinations now require travellers arriving from Hong Kong/ China/ Macau to undergo mandatory testing arrangements. Please refer to our website or the official government website of the destination for the latest updates.

 

Get your travel documents ready

With international travel returning full force in 2023, it’s a good idea to remind your travellers to check their travel documents required for specific destinations, e.g. Australia and New Zealand. Make sure they hold a valid passport, relevant visa and other entry permits before departure.
