Resumption of flights to Hong Kong from 1 April 2022

Posted on {0}

We are constantly monitoring and adapting to the latest travel information and restrictions. We remain dedicated to flying your travellers where they need to be.

On 21 March 2022, the Hong Kong SAR government announced that the suspension of flights arriving from Australia, Canada, France, India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and the United States will be lifted on 1 April 2022. As a result, throughout April, we will be resuming flights to Hong Kong from some of these destinations. Eligibility to enter Hong Kong remains limited to fully vaccinated Hong Kong residents and fully vaccinated Foreign Domestic Helpers with a valid employment visa.

In addition, transfer and transit services at Hong Kong International Airport will also resume for all passengers on 1 April 2022.

We are actively working on resuming more flights for our customers starting from 1 April 2022. We will also ensure that any inconvenience caused in the event of any flight-specific suspension is minimised.

Kindly note that these changes are subject to ongoing reviews and may be adjusted as the situation develops. We encourage your travellers to refer to our website for the most up-to-date flight schedule information. For more travel updates, please visit our COVID-19 information centre.

PCR test requirements for all travellers

With the changes announced this week by the HKSAR government, Cathay Pacific has reviewed its own pre-departure PCR test requirements.  Customers travelling from Australia, Canada, Israel, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States needing to have a pre-departure test within 24 hours of scheduled departure time is no longer required. PCR testing requirements for all flights are now fully aligned with the Hong Kong SAR government’s timeframe of within 48 hours of scheduled departure time.

As a reminder:

All passengers (both transit and those ending their journey in Hong Kong) coming from all overseas countries and the Taiwan region are required to have a COVID-19 PCR test with the sample taken within 48 hours of the scheduled departure time of their flight to Hong Kong.

There are strict documentation requirements that all passengers must be able to present at check-in before they will be accepted for travel.  All passengers must have:

  1. A test report issued by a recognised laboratory or healthcare institution that contains the passenger’s name to show that:
    • They have undertaken a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) based nucleic acid test for COVID-19
    • The sample for the PCR test was taken within 48 hours of the scheduled time of departure of the flight to Hong Kong; and
    • The result of the PCR test for COVID-19 was negative.
  2. Separate documentary proof (in English or Chinese) to show that the laboratory or healthcare institution is ISO 15189 accredited or is recognised or approved by the relevant authority of the government of the place in which the laboratory or healthcare institution is located. This can be in the form of a copy of ‘Certificate of Accreditation’, ‘Certificate of Compliance’, or information printed out from an official government website.

Please note that documentary proof is required even if the test report from the laboratory or healthcare institution contains an ISO accreditation reference.

Passengers are also reminded to ensure they have all other necessary documents required by their final destination.

To enjoy a fast, seamless and stress free check-in, we highly encourage all Hong Kong destined customers to use our Fly Ready service once they have all necessary documents ready to allow us to validate them in advance.

More detailed information on documentaton requirements can be found in our Hong Kong and Worldwide travel restrictions sections on cathaypacific.com.

Thank you for your continued business and partnership.
