Ticket Acceptance

1. Is CX/KA accepting neutral paper ticket?

BSP has not distributed neutral paper ticket since 31 May 2008 and thus no neutral paper issuance is possible since then. CX/KA will not accept any neutral paper ticket issued in BSP markets. Only ARC paper tickets will be accepted in the USA market.

 

E-ticket Eligibility

1. Are all CX/KA services ET eligible?

Yes, ET issuance is possible on all CX/KA services, including codeshare service, rail service on Deutsche Bahn and SNCF. ET indicator will be present.

 

2. How to issue ET when segment does not bear ET indicator?

When segment is confirmed ET eligible, travel agents are suggested to contact GDS help desk to append ET indicator to issue ET.

 

3. Who are the interline ET partners of CX and KA respectively?

CX and KA has implemented interline ET with a list of partners. The list can be referred to on cxagents.com and kaagents.com: Policies & Procedures >Ticketing Policies > Interline Electronic Ticket > CX-CRS interline ET Carriers or KA-CRS interline ET Implement Status For codeshare service both marketed and operated by interlines, IET is possible only when CX/KA has an IET setup with both the marketing and operating carriers.

 

E-ticketing Practice

1. What areas do the travel agents need to pay attention on ET?

  • Names:
    Passenger names in booking and on ticket must match with the names shown on passport for travelling. Only in cases where the passenger name exceeds the name field size on the ticket or when the full given name is not available, it is possible to use an initial in the given name.
  • FOID:
    FOID is an optional item and is not required during ET issuance on global basis. CX can however still process FOID under the IATA format for identification purposes.
  • Itinerary receipt:
    The travel agent must provide the passenger with an ET itinerary receipt and remind the passenger to keep it with him/her throughout the entire journey to avoid prolonging the check-in/immigration process.
  • Travel in sequence:
    ET must be used in sequence, alike to paper tickets. Failure to do so will result in ET denial at the airport.
  • ET reissuance:
    Ticket reissuance can be done by the travel agent and is needed when there is:
    a change of itinerary, and/or
    a change of fare basis, and/or
    a change of class, and/or
    a change of passenger name - applicable only if name is mis-spelt or title is incorrect, refer to name change procedures

Note: All ticket reissuance, where applicable, should be subject to fare rules, reissuance guidelines and policy of respective CX/KA Sales Office.

 

2. Are all travel agents eligible to perform ET re-issuance?

Only the issuing travel agent is authorized to reissue ET and perform other ET modifications. ET display is allowed for branch offices of the issuing travel agent.

3. Can travel agent issue ET with more than 16 coupons?

No, all ET issued will be scoped to 16 segments/coupons in maximum.

 

4. Can travel agent issue a fully open-dated ET?

CX/KA policy requires at least one CX/KA segment must be booked (can be confirmed or waitlisted) in an itinerary, preferably the first segment of the itinerary, others can be open-dated. All interline segments must be booked with a date.

 

5. Does CX/KA allow multiple forms of payment (FOP) for CRS E-Ticket (ET)?

Yes, CX/KA allows multiple forms of payment when a travel agent issues a CX/KA ET through GDS.

 

6. Does CX/KA allow partial exchange, that is, exchange of partially used tickets?

Partial exchange of ET is allowed, travel agents can exchange all remaining unused coupons of a ticket.

7. What ET exchange functions are supported by CX/KA?

CX/KA supports ET to ET exchange and ET to paper ticket exchange. CX/KA does not allow paper ticket to ET exchange.

 

8. Does CX treat KA as interline or v.v.?

No, CX and KA should be treated as a whole. Therefore, where ticket rules and conditions allow, ticket reissuance is not a must if the whole itinerary only involves CX and KA sectors under CX or KA ticket stock.

 

9. Can travel agents perform ET modification after ET exchange?

Once an ET is exchanged or reissued, no further ET transactions, either by the travel agent or by CX is allowed on the exchanged ticket number. The only action allowed is a void exchange on same day.

 

10. What is ET revalidation?

A successful ET revalidation process will update the newly rebooked flight details in an existing ET record. This occurs when there is flight/date change.

 

11. When does the travel agent need to revalidate an ET and how is this done?

ET revalidation is subject to fare rules and conditions. When there is booking change, agent sends ticket number via SSR TKNM to CX/KA, revalidation takes place. If the revalidation passes, the rebooked flight details will be updated to the ET accordingly; while on the contrary, e.g. charge/fee applies, a ticket deadline will be sent to travel agent requiring for a ticket reissue. Travel agents are responsible for any liability resulting from changes. CX reserves the right to claim for indemnity loss via agency debit memo (ADM) in cases of found abuse.

 

12. Why CX/KA does not link up the electronic ticket record after the agent has revalidated the ticket with TKNE generated to CX/KA?

ET auto revalidation for US / CA flights cannot be processed at CX/KA if DOCS is missing in the PNR.

Suggest provide DOCS details as well as TKNM for CX/KA to link up the ET with the amended flights data.

 

13. How should travel agents handle ET endorsement request?

Travel agent can contact CX/KA offices for iET endorsement when applicable.

 

14. Can travel agent issue ET with pure interline sectors using CX/KA stock?

All newly issued BSP ET should consist of a CX/KA segment. Travel agent can use interline stock when itinerary does not include CX/KA segments, and conjunct it to a CX/KA ticket where applicable.

 

15. Can travel agent issue ET using passive segments?

ET issuance is supported for passive booking in GDS in selected markets. No passive policy is practiced in some markets as current.

 

16. How can travel agent issue passive ET when CX/KA is holding multiple bookings?

Current IATA standard does not support ET on multiple bookings. Travel agents are suggested to issue separate ticket on the according bookings and avoid passive segments, or to put all necessary flight segments in one booking.

 

17. When should travel agent report ticket number to interline operating carriers?

Travel agents are recommended to report new ticket number to interline operating carriers after ET reissuance by CX/KA. It can minimize the risk of denied boarding at interline check-in counter due to no ET found.

 

18. What should travel agent do in case of interline flight irregularity?

CX/KA cannot take any action to reissue, revalidate or relink the ET due to Interline flight irregularity although CX/KA is the validating carrier. Travel agents have to contact the airline concerned to make appropriate arrangement instead.
