Cathay Pacific Statement on Fuel Surcharge Increase (12 March 2026)
The price of jet fuel has approximately doubled since March amid the latest developments in the Middle East. As such, Cathay Pacific announces today that it will be adjusting the fuel surcharge effective 18 March 2026.
In accordance with the established mechanism, the fuel surcharge will be increased per sector for all tickets issued or reissued (due to rerouting and/or rebooking on 1st coupon) as follows :
For CX flight sectors between HKG and Europe /Southwest Pacific /North America /Middle East /Africa. Between Japan and USA, Between USA/Spain and Brazil/Chile/Peru, Between Australia/New Zealand and Chile, Between United Kingdom/South Africa and Brazil, Between Qatar and Brazil/Croatia/Kenya/Russia/Serbia/ Seychelles/South Africa/Ukraine. |

· It applies per sector to all tickets issued on CX, regardless of airline inventory, class, or fare type (including FFP Prime tickets). There is no exemption for any category passenger (such as children/infants/AD)
· The fuel surcharge must be collected by the issuing agency and indicated under code YR in the taxes.
· The fuel surcharges will be adjusted by taking into account of fuel prices on a monthly basis.
· Fuel surcharges will be calculated in US dollars.
· Fuel surcharge does not apply to the following Cathay Pacific sectors:
o Codeshare ferry/coach services to/from Hong Kong
o Journeys originating from Bangladesh and tickets purchased in Bangladesh
o Cathay Pacific marketing flights within Japan are exempted regardless of the point of sale and point of commencement
· Codeshare flights are also subject to respective fuel surcharges.
· This update is published pursuant to guidance from Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department.
· The new fuel surcharges are valid from the date indicated in the tables above until superseded by new published surcharges.
