Stowage of wheelchair in the Cabin

Stowage of Passenger's Wheelchair* in the Cabin on CX flight that to/from USA has been implemented since 13May2009 due to the regulations of the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) on the "Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability in Air Travel".

To ensure a consistent handling to passengers with disabilities, the above policy will be extended and apply to all CX flights and all aircraft types system-wide with immediate effective.

Owing to the stowage space limitation is different at each aircraft type and in order to avoid giving wrong expectation to passenger, frontline staff shall check the dimensions of the passenger's wheelchair if it fits for the stowage space for individual aircraft type. If the dimension of the wheelchair is within the limitation, then input the wheelchair details (size and weight) at "SSR WCMP" and inform passenger the stowage priority will be based on a first come first serve basis at boarding gate. If the size excesses the limitation, please inform passenger his/her wheelchair must be checked-in and will be returned to him/her as closely as possible to the door of the aircraft.

Please refer below table for the size limitation of passenger's wheelchair to be stowed at cabin:

Aircraft Type Maximum Wheelchair Dimension that will fit in stowage space
