Very Important Passenger (VIP)

Very Important Passengers are normally persons of Title, Heads of State, Members of Government Missions or the Diplomatic Service, or any others designated as “VIP” by Cathay Pacific senior management.

Classifications
Category 1
  • Officials of Hong Kong, SAR by names / titles
Category 2
  • Officials of People's Republic of China (PROC) by names / titles
Category 3
  • Heads of state for all countries, including the United Nations
  • Royal families
  • Ministers, Ambassadors or High Commissioners of all countries
  • Governors, Heads of Government Departments, Members of Parliament or Congress of Countries/Ports which CX operates to

    Note:
     Chief Executive Officer of Macau, SAR are considered as a head of state.

 

Commercially Important Passenger (CIP)

A CIP is defined as one who may have considerable influence or commercial importance to CX. (Normally the decision maker of a mega-sized corporation).

Classifications
  • Heads of establishment/companies that hold commercial importance with CX
  • Non-official person who have or may have considerable influence on CX
  • CIP status offers the following benefits:
    • ASR eligibility
    • No denied boarding
    • No down grading
    • Priority re-booking/re-routing during disruption
  • CIP treatment must be authorised by CX Directors or Country/Port Managers

 

Celebrity

Celebrity status may be authorized by directors and Country/Port Managers.

It should be used for exceptional, one-off cases only, where the passenger is an extremely important person but does not qualify for VIP/CIP status.
